Due to technological advances in motoring, many modern vehicles have electrical features that may not be compatible with a standard tow bar system. This could be anything from your reversing sensors constantly going off when you attach a trailer, to your vehicles trailer towing safety features not activating properly. 

Vehicle specific electrics for tow bars work by connecting the electrics of your car to your caravan or trailer. This allows the two to be programmed to talk to each other, which will not only power the brake lights for your trailer or caravan, it can also activate features built in to your car, such as trailer stability control.
